Bazoo Limited
Bazoo was started by myself, Sanmarie and co-founder Tom, shortly after we graduated from Exeter University, when we decided we wanted to start a company that puts sustainability first and makes it the priority of our business. That’s why Bazoo have reduced their carbon emissions as much as possible throughout their product’s journeys, before calculating the remaining carbon emissions emitted which are offset by 200%. We do this by working together with a company called Climate Care, who have subsequently calculated our emissions from bamboo seed to toilet paper arriving at a customer’s door. This includes everything from growing the bamboo, converting the bamboo pulp to toilet paper and delivery of the toilet paper. Bazoo then offset 200% of those emissions through projects including woodland creation and efficient cookstoves. This means that every time our customers purchase Bazoo toilet paper, they are physically removing carbon emissions from the environment.
What else makes Bazoo a more sustainable option than regular or recycled toilet paper? Bazoo toilet paper is made from 100% FSC certified sustainable bamboo, which uses zero trees and therefore helps to impact the 27,000 trees a day that are cut down for regular toilet paper. Every roll of Bazoo toilet paper uses 65% less carbon emissions than regular toilet paper, and 35% less than recycled.
The advantages of bamboo are endless, but to cut a long story short bamboo is harvested a lot more sustainably than regular hardwood trees. Our business is also proud to use zero plastic in all of our products and their packaging. We offer a range of toilet papers: unbleached, unwrapped and protected species range to allow our customers a choice and range. Our protected species range contain 6 different animal design wrappers which focus on 6 different species which are endangered; with fun and informative facts on the wrappers and also beautiful bold designs. Bazoo donates a proportion of our profits to our two UK based charity partners; Rainforest Trust UK and Just One Ocean.
